The old discussions will all be carried over to the new forum. Some of the more ancient posts may take a few days before they come up in searches, but everything should be carried over. Your post counts will remain the same and there will be bars listed to show your status level (reflecting how many posts you have made), rather than stars.

I've been reading Birder's World for a couple of years, and I finally got around to delving into the forums. What a wealth of knowledge! My husband and I have been birding for several years, and seem to be getting more and more involved, so any destination tips we can pick up help us in our growing obsession. Our favorite winter birding spot is Plum Island, Newburyport , MA and Salisbury State Park in Salisbury, MA. The Maine coast is always fun in the winter if you're interested in sea birds when

Andy, That would make the bird either a Least SP or Western SP (w/ the decurved bill). I'm still not sure about all the field marks, but maybe it's a Western beginning the transition to breeding plumage. What do you think, guys? BTW, Andy, I forgot to say your pics are very good. Thanks for sharing them.

Mojoe, I've attached the un-cropped photo of #3 bird. It was taken from about 20 ft away with my 500mm lens. The bird looked small compared to the nearby Dowitcher, I guess about 6 inches or less in size. I'm interested to find out the ID as much as anyone and would be glad to provide any additional info. Andy.

The female pileated, after a long absence, has been returning to the suet. I saw her 3 times today, the 3rd time she brought the male with her again. At one time they were in the exact same spot on the tree but on opposite sides of the trunk....I missed the shot.

That explains it, then You DO have a leucistic Blackbird, a relative of our American Robins, which incidentally tend to have a lot of leucistic individuals. Most of us here, are in the U.S. or Canada, and that's what threw me off at first. I saw the picture and thought it looked like a U.K. Blackbird. We have several DIFFERENT kinds of Blackbirds here. Leucistc means pale or more often PARTIALLY albino and that's what you have there!. This is the first leucistic U.K. bird I have seen. My ancestors

What an exciting time! The new BirdersWorld.com is coming very soon! The new site will launch at noon on March 18, 2009! That’s less than a week away! Here's what you need to know... The forums will shut down temporarily. Although we hate to do it, we will have to shut down the forums on March 13, 2009, so we have time to make all the necessary updates and changes. The rest of BirdersWorld.com will remain functional until the morning of March 18, 2009. The forums will return, as good as new, on March
