I photographed this Bald Eagle in winter at Sauvies Island, Oregon. It may be the same bird that was reported other winters in southern Oregon at the Klamath NWR. I witnessed this one expend a tremendous amount of energy catching a Canada Goose, first diving on the goose, then swimming it to shore, and then hauling it on land. It then lost the goose to another Bald Eagle that had been patiently waiting for this one to finish doing all the work. This one gave chase, but gave up as the other eagle flew off.
