Unknown bird taken in Lima, Peru

Just put a picture in the Photo Gallery under "World" of two birds taken outside of Lima in a fishing village.  Don't know what they are.  Maybe someone can help me identify them.  thanks.

 arlyne65,

Please accept our apologies for not being able to ID your bird. Just wanted to let you know that I'm sure several have looked at your pic, but haven't got a clue either. I took a stab at it using the World Bird Guide - Mangoverde - but just don't seem to be able to guess what genus your birds are in. Hopefully someone will be able to give you a clue in the near future.

Joe

Re: Unknown bird taken in Lima, Peru

Thank you so much for sending me an email, I really appreciate it.  I've checked with a good birder in our area, and he also batted zero...........Oh well, maybe someone from Peru would say "Oh boy, these things are like flies here."  I still think it is a beautiful bird, hope one day to know its name.  Thanks Again.......Arlyne

Hi arlyne65, One of your photos is a Surf Cinclodes, a Peruvian endemic. Cheers, Jean Paul
