New on BirdersWorld.com: 20 more great birdwatching articles |
|
Not too long ago, I wrote about how we had just added 50 articles about birds and birdwatching to our growing online collection. Today I'm happy to announce that we've added 20 more.
Seven are engaging, informative species profiles -- and some of my favorite pieces from the Birder's World archives.
Four are columns by Contributing Editor Paul Kerlinger about shorebirds: describing when they migrate, where you can find them, and how ornithologists study them. Paul, of course, is the author of our regular column about migration "On the Move."
One is about the Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network (WHSRN) and how it safeguards Delaware Bay, Cheyenne Bottoms, San Francisco Bay, and other crucially important shorebird gathering places across North America and around the world.
Four are about great shorebirding spots on the East Coast -- Cape Cod, Massachusetts, the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and my old stompin' grounds: Chincoteague, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, and the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
And four are about three fabled birding locations on the West Coast -- Washington's Olympic Peninsula, the Salton Sea, and California's beautiful Monterey Bay, which you'll see is listed twice below. One article describes birdwatching on dry land; the other tells about looking for pelagic species by boat.
Links to each new article are provided below. Here's how to find them (and many more) from any page of this website:
- To find hotspot stories, click "where to go" in the orange bar at the top of each page. Then use the pull-down menu to select a state or province (a list of provinces follows the list of states) and click "Find it."
- To find Paul Kerlinger's column "On the Move," click "our contributors" in the orange bar. Then click on "Paul Kerlinger."
- All visitors to the website have access to our profiles of birds. To find them, click "birdwatching." Then select "Profiles of birds."
As always, we welcome your feedback. Please leave a comment; tell us how you like the articles. --Chuck Hagner, Editor Follow Birder's World on Twitter: @BirdersWorldMag
